Write with Jamie

Have you ever wanted to try standup comedy?

Make comedy sketches online?

Write stories or scripts?

Do you have a loved one who dreams of doing comedy but just sits listening to podcasts about comedy instead, sadly scrolling Netflix specials while muttering to himself and then taking it out on you, so now you need something to buy him to save the relationship?!

GOOD NEWS! YOU CAN!

The world is garbage right now. This is your chance to do something you have always wanted to do in a fun, supportive environment. Most importantly you will learn everything NOT TO DO that I did and save years off your career and honestly your life.

Welcome to your first day in comedy baby!

Worry about writing your first 5 minutes, practicing them, changing them, memorizing them and then performing them? I will teach you methods based on decades of experience.

Taking this course doesn’t mean you need to quit your job and BE a professional standup comedian right now if you don’t want to. You don’t need to worry about if you are going to say yes to the next saudi comedy festival that goes viral.

Maybe it’s a one time bucket list thing.

Maybe it’s a life long dream.

Maybe you want more confidence.

Maybe you need to prove to yourself you can do it.

Maybe it will help other content you make be funnier and pop.

Or

Maybe

You are meant to be a fucking comedian.

This is also for  creators who want to make your social media pop instead of getting frantically scrolled over!

MAYVE you are just a human being living in 2025 where life is REALLY hard and want an outlet for your creative brain that is kept chained away while you endlessly doomscroll? Do you want to make a living as an artist?

As AI makes everything online, boring, bland, and clearly written by robots, this is the chance for real creatives with original voices and something to say to standout and I can help you take the first leap!

IIn the Jamie don’t be a hacky comedian course (we can workshop a new name together!) I'll teach you my process for creating a killer First 5 minutes using a 4 step process --

You'll learn how to observe the world, discover those POTENTIALLY funny moments, and craft YOUR FUNNY around these moments. What matters to YOU. Not what you think standup is supposed to sound like.
-- Step 2: Overwrite like a maniac. Flushing out all of your thoughts and feelings cause the best jokes come where you least expect them.
-- Step 3: Edit like even more of a maniac. Staying on what is important. Trashing all of the things most humans think they need to add.
-- Step 4: How to perform like YOURSELF!

You probably already have ideas. In a hidden notebook, a notes app, or you haven’t even wanted to put it to paper yet cause you have imposter syndrome. Well, I can tell you, after 25 years in comedy WE ALL HAVE IMPOSTER SYNDOME. So…welcome to comedy. You already did the first step! Doubt yourself!

Standup is more accessible than ever. Finding an audience online is easier than ever, and a lot of shitty mean hacky people are getting famous cause they actually went for it while you just talked shit.

WHY IS THIS DIFFERENT THEN THE COMEDY CLASS AT MY LOCAL CHUCKLE FUCK COMEDY CLUB?!

If you were like me you assumed all comedy classes were taught by 70 year old failed prop comics who would teach you how to fail like them. Yes there are formulas I can and will teach you but the most important thing I have been teaching people is how to USE THEIR OWN VOICE. Dare I say, (in Brene Brown voice) speak their own truth.

I don't want you to write like me. I want you to write like you and sometimes we just need a little push.

Let's write your first piece, make content that actually makes people share, or just blow your shit up and have a good time while we do it.

This year alone I have gone viral with standup, a TV pilot trailer and comedy skits on social media.

I will teach you everything I did to get there.

FAQ

Q. What if I am too nervous to get on stage?

A. We all are. It doesn’t go away, it just shifts. I used to throw up before shows. I, thank Christ, don’t do that anymore. It’s learning tricks to manage it. In this course you'll learn how to make that shift for yourself.  You'll learn how to shut it off the nerves for stage through preparation, practice and prep. Plus, starting over zoom with a supportive community is the best way to get the first rep out!

Q. If I don’t want to pursue standup as a full time job will this still help me?

A. Yes! This course will make you more confident, teach you discipline, show you that you are funnier than you think and that your thoughts matter! It will teach you that you don’t need to be like other people and that your voice is enough. It will help you, pitch, banter, riff, and just be open and silly enough to do more shit that makes you and others laugh.

Q. If I DO want to make a living with standup with this course will you answer questions about how to do that?

A. This course would be a starting point. You'll learn the basics of crafting jokes, but being a working comedian takes a keen understanding of the craft of comedy as well as the business side of comedy]. I would recommend doing that as a 1-1 coaching package so we can map out an entire career course geared towards you.

Endorsements and Testimonials on Jamies coaching:

Comedy is therapy with a mic. And Jamie Kilstein knows how to guide you through both. Mentored by Robin Williams. Brilliant writer. Sharp comic. Thoughtful teacher. Jamie didn’t just help me with storytelling; he helped me find the beats in my story that make people lean in, laugh, and feel. He’s the truth. If you’re serious about growing as a comedian, let this man help you unlock your rhythm. - Tim Ross host of The Basement

”Jamie is the epitome of "pay it forward." Got a crazy creative idea? Trauma you want to turn into humor? A joke that sucks (for now)? He's ready and happy to tap into his experience to guide you through it. He's a thoughtful listener, in a way that makes it feel like he's not just teaching something to you; he's teaching you. It also helps that he's really fucking funny“ Stephanie Levy

“Working with Jamie helped me build the confidence to put creativity out in the world, even when my brain told me no one would care. Putting stuff out there that I felt was funny / cool allowed me to build connections with total strangers I never would have encountered otherwise.” Thomas Lloyd

Endorsements

"Jamie Kilstein is amazing and I will be spreading the word. He has the spark that energized my conscience. We need more comedians kicking it like he does every night" - Robin Williams

“Watching Jamie reminds me of why I got into comedy. It is like watching a combination of George Carlin and Bill Hicks.” – Janeane Garofalo

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ "Kilstein’s savage intelligence and razor-sharp wit will make you think as much as laugh....dammed funny.  - Andrew P Street, Time Out Sydney

“★ ★ ★ ★ ★ —  Eloquent intelligence, razor-sharp wit and unconventionally convincing arguments. Kilstein is a special talent and one that I feel privileged for having seen at this early stage of his career.” – Broadway Baby

“★ ★ ★ ★ — This is beautifully, intelligently crafted stuff. Kilstein is possibly the most impressive writer/performer, I have seen – his set is so well written it could have a life apart from him and still be brilliant. Performed by him gives it an added oomph, but I have not been so aware of the writing quality of a comedy set this year.” – Kate Copstick, The Scotsman
